Object-oriented Image Analysis and Semantic Network for Extracting the Roads and Buildings from Ikonos Pan-sharpened Images

چکیده
Traditional pixel-based approaches are based exclusively on the grey value of pixel itself. Thereby only the spectral information is used for the classification. The situation becomes worse when extracting the certain features only. An object-oriented image analysis is implemented in order to overcome the limitation mentioned above. The existing software, eCognition v3.0 allows the polygon based classification process. It is based on fuzzy logic, allows the integration of a broad spectrum of different object features, such as spectral values, shape and texture. This study demonstrated the extraction of buildings and roads from the high-resolution Ikonos pan-sharpened image data by first dividing it into the segments and then classifying it using the spectral, spatial and contextual information. The test site was agro-industrial area in the city of Zonguldak which has rolling topography along the Black Sea coast. Land use classification results as well as the spatial information can be exported to GIS environment for evaluation purposes with existing larger scale cadastral maps and other available ground truth materials. * Corresponding author.

Object-Oriented Method for Automatic Extraction of Road from High Resolution Satellite Images
As the information carried in a high spatial resolution image is not represented by single pixels but by meaningful image objects, which include the association of multiple pixels and their mutual relations, the object based method has become one of the most commonly used strategies for the processing of high resolution imagery. This processing comprises two fundamental and critical steps towar...
متن کاملAutomatic Road Detection and Extraction From MultiSpectral Images Using a New Hierarchical Object-based Method
Road detection and Extraction is one of the most important issues in photogrammetry, remote sensing and machine vision. A great deal of research has been done in this area based on multispectral images, which are mostly relatively good results. In this paper, a novel automated and hierarchical object-based method for detecting and extracting of roads is proposed. This research is based on the M...
متن کاملPotential of Manual and Automatic Feature Extraction from High Resolution Space Images in Mountainous Urban Areas
Recent developments of optical space sensors enable us to use high resolution space images for topographic mapping. Geometric and radiometric resolution are the major factors for identification of objects in space images. Panchromatic and pan-sharpened images of IKONOS and QuickBird, and panchromatic OrbView-3 image are investigated in this study. The feature extraction is performed by manual a...
متن کاملCreating Cadastral Maps in Rural and Urban Areas of Using High Resolution Satellite Imagery
Nowadays, remotely sensed images are used for various purposes in different applications. One of them is the cadastral application using high resolution satellite imagery. In this context, a comparison of extraction results from these images and existing vector data is the most important issue. The goal here is to show the advantages and disadvantages of the QuickBird and IKONOS imagery for mak...
متن کاملAutomatically Extracting Manmade Objects from Pan-Sharpened High-Resolution Satellite Imagery Using a Fuzzy Segmentation Method
The paper describes a new method for extracting objects from high resolution color remote sensing images. This method is based on the fuzzy segmentation algorithm which has been developed in our previous works. The proposed object extraction method is following three steps. (1) Segmenting color images, (2) Detecting objects from segmented images, and (3) Postprocessing of extracted object. The ...
